Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about MailToCal setup and features.
How do I get my MailToCal email address?
After signing up and connecting your Google Calendar, you'll automatically receive a custom email address like yourname.abc123@mailtocal.com
. This appears on your success page and in your account dashboard.
What makes me a "founder" user?
The first 50 users get unlimited access forever, even when paid tiers launch. You'll see "Founder" status on your account and never be charged for MailToCal services. This is our way of thanking early supporters!
How do I connect Google Calendar?
During signup, you'll be prompted to authorize Google Calendar access. Click "Allow" to grant permissions. If you skipped this step, you can reconnect anytime from your account settings.
Is my data secure?
Yes! We only access your calendar to check for conflicts and create events. No calendar content is permanently stored on our servers. You can revoke access anytime via your Google Account settings.
What emails get processed?
Only emails sent TO your MailToCal address from your registered email address are processed. CC'd or BCC'd emails are ignored for security. The email must contain appointment details like dates and times.
Why wasn't my calendar event created?
Common reasons:
- Calendar conflict: We detected overlapping appointments and sent you a conflict email
- No appointment info: The email didn't contain clear date/time information
- Wrong sender: Email wasn't sent from your registered address
- Processing error: Check your processing logs in your account dashboard
How does conflict detection work?
When we process an appointment email, we check your Google Calendar for overlapping events. If conflicts are found, we send you an email with options: CREATE ANYWAY, RESCHEDULE, or CANCEL. Simply reply with your choice.
What if I want to create the event despite conflicts?
Reply to the conflict notification email with "CREATE ANYWAY" and we'll create the calendar event immediately. You can also include additional notes or changes in your reply.
I'm not receiving conflict notifications
Check your spam folder - conflict emails are sent from noreply@mailtocal.com. Add this to your contacts to ensure delivery. If still missing, contact support with your MailToCal email address.
My Google Calendar connection stopped working
Your Google authorization may have expired. Go to your account settings and reconnect Google Calendar. If problems persist, try revoking access in your Google Account settings and reconnecting fresh.
Can I use multiple calendars?
Currently, MailToCal creates events in your primary Google Calendar. Multi-calendar support is planned for the Pro tier. Founder users will get this feature when it launches.
How do I change my MailToCal email address?
MailToCal email addresses are automatically generated and cannot be changed to ensure uniqueness and security. Each address is cryptographically unique to your account.
Will I ever be charged as a founder user?
Never! Founder users (first 50 signups) get unlimited access forever at no cost. This is permanently grandfathered - even when we launch paid tiers, founders remain free.
What happens when paid tiers launch?
Founder users continue with unlimited access. Early adopter users (51+) get a 25% discount on Pro features when they launch. All current functionality remains free for existing users.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, contact support to delete your account. This will permanently remove your MailToCal email address, processing history, and Google Calendar connection. This action cannot be undone.
How many appointments can I create per month?
Founder users have unlimited appointments forever. Early adopters currently have no limits during the beta period. Usage limits will apply only to new users when paid tiers launch.
